It is not surprising that it can be daunting to apply for online colleges and physical colleges alike. Being aware of the scare tactics educators (and parents) sometimes use to motivate students is vital. Keep in mind that with all the newspaper and magazine articles about the rapidly growing number of applications some colleges are now receiving, there is still always ways to college admission success.

If you look at the facts, you will see that it is really not as difficult to get into college as you might think. The reality is that a very small number of colleges and universities are more than moderately selective.

Some of the colleges such as Stanford, NYU, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, are denying more students than ever before. Some of them are now admitting less than one in ten candidates. When you consider the high quality of their applicant pools, it becomes clear just how difficult it is to gain entrance to such a college. However, keep in mind that this is only a small proportion of colleges.

There are now a lot of different colleges available, as well as different types. One of this is online colleges which have been rather successful in producing workforce friendly graduates. Online colleges have been on the rise, slowly and silently in the background.

In order to enroll in online colleges, the usual requirements do apply. However, most students do not have to worry about the almost impossibly high requirements of the very most selective colleges. For them, good grades in a solid college preparatory curriculum and decent ACT's or SAT's will open the doors to the online colleges in which they are interested.

Most students, surveys tell us, think online colleges or physical colleges are both more selective than they actually are. In truth, the average college admits about seven out of ten applicants. So, even if you are not building rockets and toying with Einstein's theories in your spare time, there are many fine online colleges which will be happy to have you.

If you are a little nervous about getting into an online college, use that nervousness to motivate you to do your best in school and conduct your online college search thoroughly and diligently. But, don't worry needlessly. And, don't be afraid to apply to a few online colleges that might say no to you. Just be sure you apply to two or three at which your profile (grades and test scores) puts you above the average admitted student. Choose your online colleges well and your worries are over.
